It can be safely said that the majority of the creative heavy-lifting has been completed with this mysterious project I’ve been cryptically describing these past few months. Today is Sunday, and I’ve been nursing a migraine all day, so I’ve kept off the big screen and switched to smaller ones: watching/listening to podcasts, doodling a tiny bit on the iPad (on a new project, more on that later), and shooting an occasional glance at the workstation to see how a render is going. That’s been life these past few months since I last offered an update, and I can’t say I have any complaints.
The mind grows quieter. And the voices that remain in there become background noise, just like the dogs outside that start their barking chorus at sundown, the occasional motorized buzz of a scooter dashing pas the house, and the random Buddhist chants that weave in and out of the soundscape. Never a bother, none of it. The mind thing, that used to be more of a nightmare, but a certain level of disassociation really does improve things. More on THAT later, too.
Prepping for social media, prepping for printing (including waiting for samples), trouble-shooting technical issues, amassing all of my work into “content” (yeah, I know), juggling classes + critiques for class, while preparing pitches for the other job I have. I guess it’s been a lot. The headache was long coming, and it’s more or less a “sit down, chill out for a minute” signal. Reminders of what’s important. I decided to pay better attention to what I eat, today. No complaints, not a single one. *takes a sip of congee*
March 30th is an auspicious date. You can look that up if you’re so inclined, but suffice it to say, it wasn’t initially my chosen date to share the project–I was actually stressing to get this out by the first week of March. Then, I sat and reflected for a moment, and realized March 30th is actually perfect. I did get all the creative work done, as noted above, so the clerical stuff is all that’s left, and while learning the ropes isn’t a joyous affair, I’m grateful for it, so I can understand exactly what needs to be done when it’s time to hire an assistant. February, and a bit of March, to be honest, has been a very fascinating test to witness. My familiar triggers were still there, but age + wisdom + spiritual muscle really helped me whether the storm. Grateful for that, too.
Gonna finish up my dinner. Headache is reduced by 90%. Will render while I sleep tonight
